Alexander O'Neal has given his backing to Worcestershire County Cricket Club's first 'Legends' music festival and said: "They must do this again."
O'Neal, who had a string of top 20 hits in the 1980s, appeared at the 12 hour festival which was head-lined by reggae superstars UB40 and Lulu.
Thousands of music followers refused to be beaten by the wet weather and experienced a day to remember with music spanning the 1960s through to the 2010s.
Mr O'Neal, who appeared in mid afternoon, said: "I love performing and it is lovely to have been involved in this wonderful festival.
"Everyone reacted really well to my music and it was a great audience.
"They absolutely must do this festival again in the future because it has been really successful."
Worcestershire General Manager Jon Graham had already indicated beforehand that it is planned to make a festival a regular event in the ever growing Worcs CCC calendar.
The Lighthouse Family, Heather Small (M People), Tunde Baiyewu (Lighthouse Family), Kenny Thomas and the Real Thing also featured in the music extravaganza at the County's headquarters.
But several local band also took part on the two stages located against the backdrop of Worcester Cathedral.
Chalky Martin, of the GT's said: "This is a great festival and we are really lucky to have it in the town.
"For the first year it is running it has been really impressive."
Festival spokesman, Steve High said: "We are amazed how many people came out to the festival.
"It's fantastic when it is the first year we have done this and the bands have all been very popular, a good variety of bands, everything from the 1960s into the 2000s."
