Opener Again Amongst Runs For Brockhampton

Opener Again Amongst Runs For Brockhampton

Daryl Mitchell continued his run spree when switching from Worcestershire CCC to club cricket with Brockhampton.

The opener hit 82 off 88 balls with 11 fours in the Birmingham League Premier Division fixture against Walsall.

But Mitchell’s efforts were to no avail as the match was abandoned with Brockhampton on 158-5 from 36 overs.

Academy bowler Dillon Pennington was amongst the wickets for Shrewsbury who gained a 10 wicket win over Dorridge.

The paceman finished with 3-6 from 2.2 overs as Dorridge were bowled out for 53 in 15.2 overs.

Then County opener Ollie Westbury hit 22 not out as Shrewsbury completed a 10 wicket success in 11.1 overs.

Brett D’Oliveira made 28 off 19 balls with four boundaries for Ombersley but his side went down by 56 runs in a rain affected fixture against Knowle and Dorridge.

Knowle and Dorridge totalled 248-4 in 34 overs but this was reduced to a 184 target in 20 overs and Ombersley closed on 126-8.

Alex Hepburn had figures of 7-1-31-2 as Berkswell restricted Kenilworth Wardens to 168-9 from 37 overs but, after making 78-1 from 8.4 overs in reply, the heavens opened and the game ended as a no result.

In Division One, Jack Shantry scored 15 and took 1-13 from six overs for Wellington who, after being bowled out for 97 in 26 overs, went down by four wickets to Smethwick.

Many of the County’s other players were denied any league action by the weather.
