Opener Daryl To Play League Cricket For Brockhampton

Opener Daryl To Play League Cricket For Brockhampton

Worcestershire CCC opener Daryl Mitchell has agreed to play for Herefordshire villagers Brockhampton in the Birmingham League this summer.

The 33-year-old opening batsman is intending to play for the Premier League club when County commitments permit.

Many of the current Worcestershire players turn out in club cricket at weekends whenever possible.

Mitchell will follow in the footsteps of Worcestershire team-mate Charlie Morris who has previously been attached to the Herefordshire club.

He said: “Brockhampton play in an idyllic village location which I like. They've got a good squad and team spirit and will be looking to consolidate in the Premier Division.

"They have done fantastically well in recent years to get to where they are.

"It's just nice to have the opportunity to play club cricket when commitments at New Road permit.

"I enjoy playing cricket and because I'm no longer captain at Worcestershire, it will probably free up a bit of spare time."
