Wayne Parnell has moved into the top four of the leading wicket-takers in this summer’s Royal London One-Day Cup after his feast of victims in the past two games.
The Worcestershire Rapids all-rounder is also in the top 10 of the Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Players rankings for the 50 over competition.
Parnell has lifted his wicket tally to 17 in seven One-Day Cup matches at an average of 17.05 thanks to his returns of 5-24 against Notts Outlaws and 5-25 versus Yorkshire Vikings.
Only Middlesex leg spinner Nathan Sowter – 22 in eight games – Lancashire pace bowler Saqib Mahmood – 21 in eight matches – and Hampshire quick bowler Kyle Abbott – 20 in eight appearances – have taken more wickets than Parnell.
He also has the best economy rate of the leading four in conceding 5.40 runs per over.
Charlie Morris is the next highest Rapids wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup with 10 at 25.90 and he has consistently made early breakthroughs with the new ball.
On the batting front, Hamish Rutherford is Worcestershire’s highest placed player in the list of One-Day Cup run-scorers with 317 at an average of 63.40.
Parnell’s exploits have also lifted him into 10th spot in the MVP rankings for the competition and he has accumulated 98.57 points at an average of 14.08.
In addition to his two five-wicket hauls, Parnell’s points tally has been been lifted by his 76 against Warwickshire.
