Parnell Makes Quickfire Impact After Linking Up With Worcestershire

wayne parnell has quickly made an impact since linking up with worcestershire earlier this month.

the south african all-rounder has picked up 11 wickets in six vitality blast group matches.

he also has the second best economy rate of the rapids bowlers heading into tomorrow’s quarter-final with gloucestershire at New Road.

parnell has also weighed in with some useful runs, even going in as a pinch hitter in one game, and a series of not outs means he finds himself at the top of the batting averages.

he also made his specsavers county championship debut in the record-breaking win over yorkshire at scarborough – his first red ball cricket for 10 months – and in the second innings claimed the prized wicket of kane williamson.

pat brown will be looking to add to his 27 wickets and his achievements this summer in the blast have been well documented.

but all of the county’s bowlers have chipped in with telling contributions at various stages of the competition.

daryl mitchell’s nine wickets – harnessed to the third best economy rate – means he is only eight behind the county’s all-time leading t20 wicket-taker in jack shantry (92).

on the batting front joe clarke and callum ferguson have been the rapids leading run-getters with 345 and 326 respectively.

ross whiteley (275), martin guptill (253) and moeen ali (251) are the other main scorers.
