Question And Answer Session With Alex Hepburn

Question And Answer Session With Alex Hepburn

Worcestershire all-rounder Alex Hepburn has been in good form for Willetton Dragons in recent weeks Down Under.

It follows on from Hepburn making his debut for the County in the Royal London Cup towards the end of last season.

He picked up six wickets in two games having made a big impression in the Second Eleven with four centuries during 2015.

Here Alex looks back at that senior breakthrough and his form for Willetton during part one of question and answer session with the Worcestershire CCC website.

Question: You seem to have come into quite a bit of good form in the recent games and the side is on the up?

Alex Hepburn: "Recently I have been playing well for the Dragons and I think it's just due to my relaxed mindset and confidence coming off the back of a few good performances."

Question: How much do you enjoy playing for Willetton, it's been a few years now, and what is the standard of cricket like?

Alex Hepburn: "I love playing for Willetton. It's been my home club since I started playing cricket. The standard of cricket is really good.

"The A Grade Competition is a great challenge as there are regularly State players playing each weekend and the occasional international cricketer."

Question: You must have gone out there on a real high in October after making your first team breakthrough at New Road in the One-Day Cup?

Alex Hepburn: "It was great to get the taste and break into the first team side at the back end of last summer.

"To get the opportunity to play after a few good performances was really pleasing."

Question: It must have been a great feeling to get four wickets on your debut, especially at New Road (4-34 v Leicestershire)?

Alex Hepburn: "To get the opportunity to play was brilliant and then to grab the chance and take four wickets on debut – and contribute to a win in front of a home crowd – was unreal."

Question: Were you targeting a first team opportunity last summer and does it drive you on when the likes of Joe Clarke and Ed Barnard get into the side as well?

Alex Hepburn: "I always wanted to break into the one day side last year. We set goals at the start of the summer and that was number one on the list.

"Living with both Barny and Clarkey last summer and seeing them break into the sides and do well in all formats obviously spurred me on to performing and getting the opportunity to play alongside them both.

"We are all really good mates and love to see each other doing well."

Question: Things couldn't have gone much better for you with the Seconds batting-wise, four hundreds?

Alex Hepburn: "It was an impressive summer with the bat especially after a quiet summer the year before.

"Getting a ton under the belt early on in the campaign always helps and then to continue and string together a few scores was ideal."
