Rapids Batsman Munro In T20 Action For Black Caps In South Africa

Worcestershire Rapids batsman Colin Munro will be in T20 action for New Zealand at the same time as his adopted county are in NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final action against Hampshire tomorrow evening at New Road (5.30pm start).

Munro was originally scheduled to be available for all the Rapids T20 Blast matches this summer but was called up for the Black Caps tour of Zimbabwe and now South Africa.

He played in two ODIs against Zimbabwe and then scored 23 not out off 11 balls in the only T20 international between the two countries in Harare.

Now he will face the Proteas tomorrow evening in the first of two T20Is in Durban which has a 17.00 hours start time BST.

Munro took time out to send a good luck mesage to his Rapids team-mates ahead of tomorrow's quarter-final but will be hoping he can cement a spot in the New Zealand squad for the future.

They play a second T20I in Centurion on August 16 and then three ODIs – in Centurion (August 19), Potchefstroom (August 23) and Durban (August 26).

Munro made his first international appearance for 15 months when he featured in the T20I against England at Old Trafford in June.

He was the Rapids second highest run-scorer for the 2014 campaign but was not so prolific this summer.
