Rapids Bidding To Complete Hat-Trick Of T20 Blast Victories

Rapids Bidding To Complete Hat-Trick Of T20 Blast Victories

Worcestershire Rapids will be bidding to complete a hat-trick of Natwest T20 Blast wins when they entertain Yorkshire Vikings in tomorrow evening's clash at New Road, starting 5.30pm.

The Rapids triumphed at home to Durham Jets and then defeated Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston last Friday.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell believes the Rapids are capable of competing with any opposition if they play to their full potential – but feels there is still room for improvement.

Mitchell said: "Yorkshire have got a lot of international cricket experience and a lot of good players.

"We've certainly got the belief we can compete with any team in the country on our day.

"We've put in some good performances, we've won two games against two of the bigger counties and, to be honest, there is still room for improvement in the way we play.

"We've played well but can still go that little step further, particularly in the field and maybe with the ball as well."

Worcestershire are having to come to terms with the loss of overseas player Mitchell Santner because of his finger injury.

Mitchell said: "We showed our depth against Warwickshire. It is a blow to lose someone of international quality like Mitch.

"Alexei Kervezee came in and played a vitally important knock and along with Dolly (Brett D'Oliveira), won us the game in that chase.

"It shows we've got depth, shows we've got quality in the squad and there are a couple of others who haven't played yet who will feature at some point as well."
