Rapids Choose 13 Strong Squad To Face Spitfires

worcestershire rapids will select from a 13 strong squad for tomorrow’s royal london one-day cup semi-final with kent spitfires at New Road.

head coach kevin sharp will have to make two enforced changes from the side which defeated warwickshire at edgbaston nine days ago to seal top spot in the north group.

moeen ali is on odi duty for england against australia in cardiff while skipper joe leach has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a stress fracture of the back.

the squad will consist of the nine remaining players who featured versus warwickshire plus tom fell, george rhodes, pat brown and adam finch.

fell and brown have played in three and five matches respectively in this year’s competition but rhodes and finch have not featured to date.

callum ferguson will skipper the rapids in leach’s absence as they bid to go one better than 12 months ago when beaten in the semi-finals by surrey.

the spitfires, who finished third in the south group, booked their place in the last four via thursday’s nine wicket win over notts outlaws at trent bridge.
