Rapids Choosing From Unchanged Squad Against The Bears

worcestershire rapids will select from an unchanged squad for this evening’s vitality blast derby with birmingham bears at New Road.

the rapids will choose from the 11 players in action in yesterday evening’s win over lancashire lightning at emirates old trafford plus pacemen dillon pennington and new signing andy carter.

on loan nottinghamshire left armer luke wood is in contention to make his home debut after claiming a notable first scalp for the rapids in england test batsman keaton jennings.

overseas duo martin guptill and callum ferguson are also set for their first blast appearances at the county’s headquarters against the bears who defeated nottinghamshire in their opening match at trent bridge.

rapids skipper brett d’oliveira was delighted with the performance in the win over the lightning but says there is always room for improvement.

he said afterwards: “we will take the positives from this game and learn from the not so good things and take that into friday.

“what can we improve? maybe towards the back end of our bowling, we could have executed our plans a bit better and maybe in the field we were just off the pace slightly.

“but i can’t fault the lads. it was a big boundary and also windy and trying to save twos was hard work. not much to work on but there are always little things we will try to improve on.”

the two teams this evening will again be playing for the norman gifford trophy.
