Rapids Ensured Of Spot In Knockout Stages If Vikings Lose Roses Match

Rapids Ensured Of Spot In Knockout Stages If Vikings Lose Roses Match

Table-topping Worcestershire Rapids will be guaranteed a place in the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup for the third year running if Yorkshire Vikings fail to win tomorrow.

The Vikings take on rivals Lancashire in their penultimate group fixture at Emiratres Old Trafford.

Failure to win the battle of the white and the red rose counties will ensure a top three spot for Joe Leach’s side.

Third and fourth placed Notts Outlaws and Derbyshire Falcons meet at Trent Bridge on Thursday and therefore only one of them has a chance of overhauling the Rapids.

The Rapids are striving to top the North Group for the second successive season – and with that comes a home semi-final.

That objective will be achieved if the Rapids defeat Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Thursday.

If teams finish level on points, then the first criteria to decide who finishes higher is most wins followed by net run rate.

The two group winners are awarded an automatic semi-final spot with the games being played on June 17 and 18.

The second placed county in the North Group will play the third placed county in the South Group and the second placed team in the South Group will face the third placed side in the North Group to determine the other two semi-finalists.

Both those games will be staged on June 14.
