Worcestershire 2018 Vitality Blast player Martin Guptill returned to form in the Caribbean Premier League although he was on the losing side for Barbados Tridents against Jamaica Tallawahs.

The New Zealander had been left out of the previous game against Trinbago Knight Riders after scoring 26 runs in four innings.

But Guptill, who played in the Rapids opening eight Vitality Blast matches, showed his quality in making 73 off 60 balls after the Tridents had been put into bat in Bridgetown.

He was the only one of the top six to reach double figures and added 60 for the sixth wicket with Imran Khan (20).

The Tridents totalled 151-9 in their 20 overs but Tallawahs reached their target with 2.4 overs to spare for the loss of five wickets.

A third successive setback for the Tridents has left them in fifth position in the six team table in the battle to reach the knockout stages.

Worcestershire Head Coach Kevin Sharp has confirmed his interest in trying to bring Guptill back to Blackfinch New Road for Blast finals day on September 15 should the opener be available.

He scored 253 runs in seven innings for the Rapids including a 35 ball century against Northamptonshire Steelbacks – the second fastest ever in domestic T20 cricket in England.
