Rapids Rewrite Record Books With 50 Over Total

Rapids Rewrite Record Books With 50 Over Total

Worcestershire Rapids rewrote the record books in totalling 361-8 in their Royal London One-Day Cup match versus Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground today.

Their total was the County's highest ever against first class opposition in a 50 over encounter.

It surpassed their previous best tally of 320-8 in 50 overs versus Hampshire in a Friends Provident Trophy (FPT) match at the Rose Bowl in 2009.

Worcestershire have only surpassed today's total once in 50 over cricket when scoring 365-7 against Scotland in another FPT fixture at New Road in 2007.

In all List A cricket, Worcestershire have only managed a higher total than today on three occasions.

They scored 404-3 in 60 overs versus Devon in a NatWest Trophy clash at New Road in 1987.

Then seven years ago, a Clydesdale Bank 40 Over League match versus Surrey at The Oval saw Worcestershire rattle up 376-6.

The forementioned Scotland game was the third highest – and then comes today's excellent effort in the list of highest totals.

The Rapids went onto win today by 42 runs as Leicestershire were dismissed for 319 (read separate article for match report).
