Rapids Star Santner Keeps Tight Grip On Opposition Batsmen

Worcestershire Rapids all-rounder Mitchell Santner has one of the best economy rates in the country in the NatWest T20 Blast during the 2017 campaign.

The New Zealander is officially currently the 11th best performer in terms of runs per over this summer.

But in reality Santner is far higher with the list including players who have bowled as little as one ball!

In only one game, against Durham Jets at New Road, has Santner conceded more than 30 runs.

He has an economy rate of 6.68 runs per over which, if repeated throughout the team, would mean the opposition only scoring 133 in their 20 overs.

Santner’s contribution also highlights Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes belief that his absence through injury last summer after just one game was “a massive blow” to the Rapids hopes of reaching the knockout stages.

His T20 Blast figures statistics in 2017 are 0-19, 2-30, 2-27, 1-23, 0-26, 1-24, 0-39, 3-16 and 1-30 and he has overall figures of 35-0-234-10.

The Rapids return to action tomorrow evening against the Jets at the Emirates and Rhodes will be forced to make at least one change.

Australian all-rounder John Hastings is returning home after sufferinga foot injury.

The Rapids will be seeking to complete a double after Joe Clarke’s superb 124 not out off 53 balls helped seal an eight wicket home win over The Jets.
