Rapids T20 Blast Player Munro Smashes Career Best 281 Off 167 Balls

Worcestershire Rapids NatWest T20 Blast player Colin Munro scored a career best 281 in an amazing display of hitting for Auckland on the opening day of their Plunket Shield clash with home side Central Districts in Napier.

Munro, who was 28 earlier this month, smashed an incredible 23 sixes and 17 fours in his 167 ball innings as Auckland amassed 471-5 off 92 overs after being put into bat before bad light ended play early.

It was the in form Munro's third 100 plus score in the last four matches in the four-day competition after a successful time previously in the 50 over Ford Trophy competition.

Once again Munro showed he is as effective a player in the first class game as in the T20 and 50 over formats.

It was his ninth century in just 55 first class knocks in addition to 10 half centuries.

Munro came to the wicket at 64-2 in the 24th over and shared in stands of 167 in 29 overs with Carl Cachopa and 214 in 26 overs with Robert O'Donnell.

His 50 came up off 30 balls, the 100 off 68, the 150 off 111, the 200 off 133 and the 250 off 153 deliveries.

He was eventually fourth out with the total on 435 in 79th over, having scored 281 of the 371 runs scored while he was at the wicket.

Munro will link up with Worcestershire in mid May in time for the opening T20 Blast match away to Birmingham Bears on May 22.

He finished as the county's second highest scorer in the competition behind skipper Daryl Mitchell in the run to the quarter-finals.
