Zain Ul-Hassan and the Worcestershire Academy’s lower order batsmen led a partial recovery on day two of the Tri-Series match with Northamptonshire Academy at Bromsgrove CC.
The visitors declared on 538-7 in their first innings and then reduced Worcestershire to 74-6 at one stage.
But the last four wickets added 153 to take the final total to 227 all out.
Northamptonshire did not enforce the follow on despite a lead of 311 and reached 10-1 by the close.
Ul-Hassan (40) and Ben Twohig (38) added 68 for the seventh wicket.
After the pair had been dismissed, Alex Simpson (36) and Billy Cox (43) continued the resistance with a partnership of 74 for the ninth wicket.
Simpson then struck an early blow in Northamptonshire’s second innings.
They had resumed on 513-3 in their first innings and lost four quick wickets before the declaration with Simpson finishing with 3-84 and Ollie Westbury 2-92.
