George Rhodes was handed his Specsavers County Championship debut for Worcestershire in today's Specsavers County Championship clash with Northamptnshire at Wantage Road.
The all-rounder became the 499th player to represent the county in the Championship.
Rhodes has already represented Worcestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast and the Royal London One-Day Cup this season.
He recently signed a new two year contract until the end of the 2018 season.
Worcestershire paceman Josh Tongue was also in contention to make his Specsavers County Championship debut after being included in the squad but missed out on final selection/
Acadmy product Tongue made a quickfire return to action after a back injury which had been expected to rule him out for three months until the start of August.
He made his first class debut for the County in the season opener against Oxford MCCU in The Parks and picked up four wickets and made a favourable impression.
Bowling coach Matt Mason has worked closely with Tongue for several years and is delighted to see involved in the first team squad.
He said: I'm proud of him on all sorts of levels, one just because it's him and I've known him a long, long time.
"Secondly, he has come through a difficult injury. To have success early on and then go through his back problem and the way he has worked and overcome that so quickly has been amazing.
"He has been here every morning at 7.30 doing his work twice a day and he deserves his involvement now.
"He brings something different. He is taller than our other bowlers. He gets some bounce and swing."
