Rhodes Hits Century As Josh Moves Back Into Action

George Rhodes hit a century as Barnard Green overcame Brockhampton by 111 runs in a Birmingham League Division One fixture.

The Worcestershire all-rounder hit three sixes and 12 fours in his 140 ball knock.

Rhodes put on 101 for the fourth wicket with County team-mate Josh Tongue who was continuing his comeback from a metatarsal injury.

Tongue struck two sixes and one four in making 42 from 55 balls.

Barnards Green were bowled out for 237 in 50.2 overs and then Tongue got to work with the ball, picking up two wickets and having figures of 6-4-2-2 as Brockhamption were dismissed for 136 in 30.2 overs.

There were less County players  in league action than normal this weekend because of last night’s Vitality Blast match with Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge which produced another superb win for the Rapids.

Tom Fell, in excellent form for the Seconds during the past week in T20 and Championship matches, was dismissed for two and Zen Malik 22 as Wolverhampton (193-8) drew with Smethwick.

Malik had earlier taken 3-40 in Smethwick’s 262 all out in a Premier Division fixture.

Academy player Xavie Clarke helped Oswestry to a winning draw against Shifnal by 191 runs in Division One.

Clarke made 28 of Oswestry’s massive 358-8 from 55 overs and then had figures of 3-28 with the ball.

But his side were unable to force outright victory as Shifnal clung on at 167-9.
