Rhodes Hopeful Henry Will Be Fit To Take On Steelbacks

Worcestershire Rapids Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes is optimistic New Zealand paceman Matt Henry will be fit for tomorrow evening's home return NatWest T20 Blast clash with Northants Steelbacks at New Road, 5.30pm start.

Henry suffered what Rhodes described as "a niggle" during the first meeting with the Steelbacks at Wantage Road last Friday.

Worcestershire were assessing his fitness during today's practice sessions at New Road before making a final decision.

Henry has played in four of the County's six Specsavers County Championship matches and all four T20 Blast games.

The 24-year-old was not originally scheduled to play Royal London One-Day Cup matches as part of the programme mapped out with New Zealand.

Rhodes said: "We have got a game tomorrow night, we are very optimistic he will play.

"We will probably assess him day by day and today is practice day so we will see how he goes but hopefully he will be playing tomorrow.

"He just got a tiny little niggle against Northants so hopefully he will be okay."

Worcestershire will have to make one change from the side who lost to the 2015 runners-up – their first defeat after a trio of impressive wins.

Moeen Ali is now back on international duty with England and is not available against the Steelbacks.
