Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has urged Worcestershire fans to "come on down" to New Road today (Wednesday) as the LV = County Championship clash with Glamorgan heads for a potentially exciting climax.
Glamorgan will resume on 0-0 after surviving one over yesterday evening after being set a 355 target in 97 overs on what Rhodes described as an "excellent cricket wicket."
The former England wicket-keeper is confident going into the fourth day but has stressed there is plenty of hard work ahead if a fifth win of the campaign is to be achieved.
Worcestershire claimed the last four Glamorgan wickets to earn a first innings lead of 55 with spinner Saeed Ajmal finishing with 5-106.
Then good contributions from Moeen Ali (80) and Richard Oliver (65), who shared a second wicket stand of 123, Tom Fell (40), Alexei Kervezee (21), Ben Cox (40 not out) and Jack Shantry (24 not out) led to the declaration at 299-7.
Rhodes said: "For the public and the supporters, come on down, because it should be a really good day. I thought it was an excellent cricket wicket.
"You can certainly bat on it but there is a little bit of seam movement and we've had a little bit of swing and reverse swing in the game, a little bit of spin, and a tiny bit up and down.
"It is an excellent cricket wicket and bodes well for the last day. People might think '350, well that's a lot, and could we have declared earlier' but it is actually one of our better wickets this one.
"The ball comes onto the bat and if you can get a big partnership going, I'm sure Glamorgan will fancy their chances but hopefully, if we can tease them along, take a few wickets here and there, we hopefully come out on the right side of it.
"Whatever happens, we've still had a very good season and I do feel confident but I've got to make sure all our team recognise that it is not going to get given to us.
"We've got to work extremely hard, the seamers, spinners, the catchers, but it will be worth the effort."
Rhodes was pleased with the efforts of his players on the third day.
He said: "I thought today we played really well. We've had a good day. We've scored 300 runs and we got four wickets. To me that is a really good effort.
"We would have liked to have had a few more overs at them tonight but we set our stall out on the target we wanted to set and we'd lost a few wickets.
"At one stage we might have gone all the way through but we thought still we could declare because we had a little bit of a burst and it meant we could get one over at them.
"It was an awkward little over for the nightwatchman but he got through it.
"The plan was to get five or six overs at them but we lost two wckets together Fell and Alexei Kervezee) and you do get a stalling of run scoring when that happens with two new batters at the crease.
"We also lost a couple more so Ben Cox and Jack Shantry just played a little bit steady to start with and then opened up and managed to get us into a position where we could declare.
"People will be surprised it was only one over but if I'm an opening batsman or nightwatchman I don't want to go out and face an over."
