Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes had praised the positive impact made already at New Road by new signing Alex Gidman.
Gidman ended a career lasting more than a decade with Gloucestershire to join Worcestershire on a two year contract for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The 33-year-old batsman finished as the third highest run-scorer in Division Two of the LV = County Championship.
He scored a fine half century against Derbyshire during the pre-season trip to Abu Dhabi last week.
But Rhodes brought in Gidman, apart from for the quality of his batting, to also aid skipper Daryl Mitchell as an experienced lieutenant amongst a possee of young talent.
Rhodes said: "Alex has settled in very well this winter at Malvern College and at New Road. He doesn't say a lot but, when he does, it is good stuff.
"He picks his words wisely and that is exactly what we want.
"We need someone to help Mitch when out on the field, to have a few more on field teachers.
"The age Alex is at, the experience he has got, the way his season went last year, the respect he has got from our lads as well, then it is going to be a really good thing.
"He bought into the winter extremely well.
"He is up the road everyday from Stroud but he already can see what we want, which is someone with experience who can help bring on the youngsters."
Only Hampshire's James Vince (1525) and Mitchell himself (1334) scored more Division Two runs than former Gloucestershire captain Gidman (1277) during 2014.
