Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes revealed his pride at the performance of the Worcestershire Rapids players in securing a quarter-final spot in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Victory over Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge under the Duckworth-Lewis Method means Worcestershire finished in fourth spot in the North Group and displaced Durham Jets whose game at Lancashire Lightning was abandoned.
The Rapids will now face either South Group winners Somerset in the quarter-finals at Taunton on August 17 or 18.
Back to back wins over Lancashire and the Outlaws in the space of 24 hours enabled the Rapids to revive their hopes.
Rhodes told BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley : "We have really enjoyed the competition. There have been some good sides and we are delighted to get through.
"I am delighted for our supporters who will be able to go and watch us in a quarter-final.
"The boys have worked hard, particularly in these last two matches, and played really well and I'm very proud of their efforts to manage to get us through.
"All the lads have been going through the different concoctions of how it might turn out and I've just been thinking 'all we can do is win the game.'
"The rain was interesting today and Duckworth-Lewis played a major part in us fielding first and trying to chase.
"That was the only plan, to try and keep ahead of Duckworth-Lewis. We had Ross Whiteley padded up in case we lost another wicket because we knew we'd have to have a bit of a burst.
"We always knew the rain was coming. I thought the partnership between Felly (Tom Fell) and Daryl (Mitchell) went at such a good rate that they got us way ahead (of Duckworth-Lewis) so in fact we were two wickets ahead."
Despite the elimination from the T20 Blast and close shave in the One-Day Cup, Rhodes believes the squad is continuing to progress.
He said: "I was talking to Matt Mason (assistant coach) only a few days ago and I was thinking we missed out on the quarter-finals of the T20 which was really disappointing, we were making things difficult in the One-Day Cup and were doing okay in the Championship.
"I was thinking 'maybe it's not been that good a year and we could have done a lot better' and it was a little bit of a disappointing time.
"But then I looked at the individuals and I went around the dressing room thinking 'who has improved and who hasn't improved' and the large majority of the team have improved.
"We are definitely progressing in the right way."
