Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes revealed his pride in Worcestershire's performance in the drawn game with Glamorgan in the LV = County Championship at the Swalec Stadium.
Will Bragg's unbeaten 91 in 92 overs was largely responsible for denying Worcestershire their third win in four games on a hard fought final day.
But the county remain unbeaten and are 11 points clear at the top of Division Two after four matches.
Rhodes said: "We would have loved to come away with a win but I can't fault the lads efforts. They really tried hard throughout the day and we bowled about 100 overs in that last innings.
"I can't remember an obvious catch going down. There might have been some really, really hard chances but we haven't missed an obvious catch or a run-out, I think we bowled well and Glamorgan batted well in quite tough conditions.
"All in all, if you love your cricket it was actually a blustery cold day but really interesting cricket and credit to both teams because it was a hard fought draw in the end.
"I'm proud of what the players did. We didn't pull it off but I'm really proud of the way we bowled and fielded and the way we fought.
"It wasn't to be. That can happen sometimes, that's cricket and on another day we would have bowled them out.
"Bragg played the outstanding innings of the fourth innings. For him to bat so long against Ajmal was a really good effort.
"But we are unbeaten, we've had two draws we've had the better of and two wins and we are very much looking forward to the next four day game against Essex."
Rhodes admitted: "The tough thing for us is that the ball did get soft with that wet outfield and, once that hardness had gone and the wet got into the ball and the seam, it made it very hard.
"It was going in and out of shape which is why the umpires wouldn't change it but that made life very difficult and the ball wasn't spitting or keeping as low as much as when it was hard.
"That was a crucial part of the game but as a batting side when you are trying to bat out for the draw, you need a bit of luck as well. "
Rhodes again hailed the performance of skipper Daryl Mitchell in scoring two centuries in the game and he batted for nearly 12 hours and was on the pitch for every second of the four days.
He said: "We can't forget the outstanding display of Daryl Mitchell in this match and to score the runs he's had this season and the two centuries in the game is a really fine effort.
"They will be picking Test sides soon and hopefully I'd like to think he would get a mention. He might not get in the side but it would be lovely to think he might get a mention."
