Rhodes: Santner Is “top Notch” In All Disciplines

Steve Rhodes is delighted to welcome Mitchell Santner back as the Worcestershire Rapids NatWest T20 Blast overseas player for 2017 and said: "he is top notch in all three disciplines."

Santner has arrived at New Road for a second spell after suffering a broken finger in the opening game of his initial tenure at the club versus Durham Jets at New Road last summer.

It forced the New Zealand all-rounder to cut short his time with the Rapids and was a setback to their hopes of success in the short format.

Director Of Cricket Rhodes said: "It was a blow to us losing Mitch after that first game. Although we had a good start in the competition, his presence would have helped us with our objective to try and reach the knockout stages.

"We are delighted to have him back for a second stint and he is top notch in all three disciplines.

"Mitch is a high class spinner, a facet of the game which has become increasingly important in T20, a top fielder and someone who is capable of hitting the ball out of New Road.

"Being a left hander also helps with the balance of our top six along with Ross Whiteley.

"He was keen to come back and will fit seamlessly into our dressing room like he did last year as a top bloke."
