Worcestershire start the second half of their LV = County Championship programme tomorrow with Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes confident "a couple of wins are around the corner if we keep working as hard and playing as well."
The county moved out of the bottom two as a result of their 12 point haul in the drawn game at Middlesex and now face ninth placed Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
Worcestershire have one win to date so far against Somerset but have shown they are competitive in the top flight with their level of performance in most games.
Rhodes: "I think we need a couple of wins and I do think we can achieve that and I've got confidence that we can achieve that.
"We've played some terrific cricket. Even down at Middlesex this week we were dominating for quite a long period of the game.
"Sadly we couldn't quite do it. The bowlers tried their hardest and we couldn't quite bowl them out second innings to try and get the points.
"We've worked so hard. We deserve a bit of luck.
"If we keep working as hard and playing as well as we are, I'm sure there are a couple of wins around the corner for us in the Championship."
Rhodes says that Worcestershire will go into the game with Nottinghamshire as underdogs.
He said: ""Both sides will be looking forward to the challenge of trying to get a win, particularly Notts in many ways because they put a lot of pride in their achievements in Division One.
"They have been big players in Division One for many years now. They've got a big budget and plenty of players. They've got a massive squad.
"They are very much favourites on their own turf and it's a great game for us to go as underdogs with half that budget and try and beat them.
"We are the underdogs, no doubt about it. It gives us lots of confidence because we can knock the favourites off their pedastol.
"Do I enjoy that status? Yes very much so. It's a nice place to be. If you are not expected to win, the pressure is on the opposition."
