Steve Rhodes admitted Worcestershire were "outplayed in all departments" by Kent but says they are capable of rediscovering the winning habit in the final third of the season especially if they learn the lessons of Canterbury.
Worcestershire went down by 10 wickets in the Specsavers County Championship match after their last four wickets fell in quick succession on the final morning to leave the home side requiring only 12 to win.
Kent have now leapfrogged the County and Essex to top the Division Two table at least temporarily after an impressive all-round performance.
Director Of Cricket Rhodes told BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley: "We were outplayed in all departments and that is tough to take.
"With this side we've got, we definitely make progress and then we get shunted every now and then and you feel as if you are not making progress.
"But if you look at the Kent performance, it was a very good performance. They've got some senior players who played some key roles in this win.
"They looked a good team.They were enthusiastic in the field and they looked a different Kent to previous years and Sam Northeast is doing a tremendous job with Jimmy Adams in generating something they've got going here at Kent.
"I'm sure they'll try and keep that momentum going but going back to our performance, we were certainly not as good with the ball.
"We didn't seem to have the potency on the wicket that they did, with the bat they outplayed, out-battedd us and in the field they definitely outfielded us.
"I thought the openers (Daryl Mitchell and George Rhodes) did quite well in both innings in getting over the new ball.
"But they got 450 and we only got that amount of runs in two innings so that is poor batting – and all our guys bat and everyone should shoulder the responsibility."
Worcestershire return to action against Glamorgan at New Road on Saturday and Rhodes said: "There are five opportunities for wins and that's what we will be looking for.
"We will be looking to try and win games of cricket and force our way back into contention (for promotion).
"That is possible, definitely possible, but we've got to learn from situations like this. We did a few dopey things this game which happens sometimes.
"We've got young players who are learning the game and sometimes they possibly don't make the right decisions or do the right things.
"It is frustrating but it is all part of the learning curve and as long as we do learn, I'm happy.
"I'm not happy having been beaten by Kent but sometimes as well you've got to put your hands up and say it was a good performance by the opposition."
