Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes insists players can cope with the dual demands of LV = County Championship and NatWest T20 Blast cricket.
After a month of nothing but Championship cricket – plus the four-day New Zealand tour game – Worcestershire, like all counties, will now mix red ball and white ball cricket for the next couple of months.
It is a busy schedule for teams who generally play a Championship match Sunday to Wednesday, then travel or practice on Thursday, play in the T20 Blast Friday and then prepare Saturday for the return to the Championship the following day.
But Rhodes is adamant that players can adapt to such schedules.
He said: "It is about who copes best. You literally have to put a different hat on when you arrive for a game of cricket, is it a 20 over today, is it a four-day? – but that is easily done.
"I remember a couple of years ago thinking 'it couldn't be done' but it can be done.
"Years ago we would play 40 over matches in the middle of three-day Championship games. These things can be done.
"It just takes a bit of practice and time and as long as we are more ready than the opposition, than that will be a good thing."
