Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes says Worcestershire Rapids will be "fresh and raring to go" in tomorrow's home NatWest T20 Blast clash with Derbyshire Falcons despite not arriving back until the early hours after tonight's wash-out against Durham Jets at the Emirates ICG.
Rhodes felt the Rapids were heading for a challenging total on a used wicket when play was abandoned with their total on 103-5 after 14.1 overs.
Joe Clarke (36) and Daryl Mitchell (28) were the main contributors for the Rapids who collect one point to take their tally to 10 from nine games – two of which have been abandoned.
Rhodes told BBC Hereford-Worcester's sports producer Trevor Owens: "It will be tough. I don't know what time we will get back, something like two in the morning, maybe three and we've got a game tomorrow night.
"But we are looking forward to it and we will be there fresh and raring to go.
"I never look at the tables but I know if we keep winning, we will qualify and that's what the next goal will be, to try and get a good result tomorrow night."
Worcestershire's Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Durham at the same venue was also severely curtailed by the elements and this evening was along similar lines.
Rhodes added: "It is a long way to come for sadly only one point but they get a lot of rain up here and it's washed out what would have been a fine game.
"The wicket was a little bit tricky and we did feel as though we were getting a good score. We felt 150 would have been a very good score on that wicket and if we had got that, we would have fancied our chances.
"It wasn't easy at all. If you took the pace off the ball, it wasn't easy, and if you hit the wicket hard, it was a bit two paced. It is an old wicket and it played a little bit like that.
"The lads ran well. There was a big boundary on one side. I thought Joe Clarke played really well and his partnership with Daryl Mitchell, who played well for his 28, managed to get us going.
"It was set up for a Ross Whiteley and a last five overs with Ben Cox but it was not to be. It's a litle bit disappointing but we can't do anything about the English summer."
