Ross Whiteley is delighted to be transferring his form in white ball cricket into the LV = County Championship after another important knock on day three of the Division One clash with Somerset at Taunton.
The 26-year-old all-rounder hit 78 not out and shared in an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 139 in 25.5 overs with Ben Cox who is unbeaten on 52.
Only 22 overs play was possible but Whiteley and Cox added 128 runs at nearly six an over in that period.
Whiteley followed his 101 against Yorkshire at Scarborough and 34 and 78 against Nottinghamshire at New Road with another demonstration of the form which first flourished in the NatWest T20 Blast.
He told BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley: "It was pretty frustrating with the rain on and off all the time. It was quite tough to get your head on the game but I think we did pretty well.
"It is going alright. I've got a pretty nice bat and that always helps. I'm really enjoying my four-day cricket at the moment. It is something I've struggled with over the past couple of years.
"I've worked pretty hard to try and get myself back in the team and it's always nice to get a few runs. What is the difference? I'm not sure to be honest. I guess the hard work I've put in is paying off.
"It's been a couple of frustrating years. I haven't found form up until now so hopefully it continues.
"You take a lot of confidence out of the T20. That went pretty well for myself.
"I've just tried to come in and relax and enjoy my four-day cricket and not put too much pressure on it and play a little bit more attacking just like my one-day cricket. It's paying off at the minute."
Whiteley and Cox's partnership was well timed after Worcestershire resumed on 44-4 in reply to Somerset's 565-5 declared.
Whiteley said: "We dug in really well. The team has shown fight all the way through the season to get us where we are.
"I know we are third bottom at the moment but we probably deserve to be a couple of spaces higher.
"If we keep showing that fight we had tonight throughout the season, it will stand us in good stead towards the end of the season."
Whiteley is hoping the rain relents sufficiently for Worcestershire to clock up some batting bonus points on the final day.
He said: "We obviously didn't mind a little bit of rain taking a bit of time out of the game but from where we are now, it would be nice to get out and get a few batting points.
"I'm not sure the forecast is great tomorrow but if we can get out there and score a few quick runs, it could be vital for picking up a couple of points."
