Saeed Ajmal marked his return to competitive cricket by picking up a wicket for Pakistan 'A' against Kenya in a rain affected one-day clash in Lahore.
Ajmal, who amassed 63 LV = County Championship wickets in nine matches for Worcestershire last season, is playing two games for the 'A' side with his remodelled action before the Pakistan Cricket Board apply to the ICC for a biomechanics test on the spinner.
He has been banned from international cricket since his action was reported during the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Test in Galle in August.
The Kenya games do not hold international status so Ajmal is allowed to participate in them – plus any domestic cricket.
Ajmal finished with 1-23 from six overs as Kenya were bowled out for 106 in reply to Pakistan's 224-5 in a 28 overs a side game.
The 37-year-old will play in another match against Kenya tomorrow and his target is to get ICC approval for his new action so that he can play in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has already indicated he would like to re-sign Ajmal for next season if his action is approved and he has spoken with the player.
He has been remodelling his action, working with former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, and has undergone two unofficial tests at an ICC biomechanics centre at Loughborough University.
