Santner Ends As Third Highest Wicket-Taker In Icc World T20

Worcestershire 2016 NatWest T20 Blast player Mitchell Santner had an ICC World T20 to remember.

The New Zealand spinner – who will link up at New Road in mid May – ended the competition as joint third highest wicket-taker in the competition.

Santner picked up 10 wickets in five matches with a best of 4-11 in the Black Caps opening win over hosts India.

Only the Afghanistan pair of Mohammad Nabi (12) and Rashid Khan (11) finished with more wickets and they both played two matches more than Santner with their wicket tally also including the pre Super 10 stage.

Santner finished level with his Blacks Caps team-mate and fellow spinner Ish Sodhi as their country reached the semi-finals before losing to England.

Two former Worcestershire players in Shakib Al Hassan (Bangladesh) and Andre Russell (West Indies) were also high up the wicket-taking charts.

Kyle Abbott, Worcestershire's overseas player for the second half of the campaign, was South Africa's top wicket-taker with seven in three matches.
