Worcestershire Seconds completed a hat-trick of victories to end the 2014 season as they defeated Hampshire by four wickets in a three-day clash at New Road.

The home side were set a 252 target in what became 37 overs and triumphed with eight balls to spare.

Brett D'Oliveira followed up his first innings century with another fine knock on the day it was announced he had signed a new two year contract with the county.

But there were also important contributions from Matt Pardoe, Ed Barnard – who has signed a one year contract extension – and Alex Hepburn.

Hampshire resumed on 132-4 in their second innings and Joe Gatting was their chief contributor with 78 off 131 balls with one six and 13 fours before the declaration at 258-9.

Barnard picked up two wickets and there were one apiece today for Ben Twohig, D'Oliveira and Graeme Cessford who finished with 3-54.

Pardoe and D'Oliveira got the Worcestershire run chase off to a flying start with a stand of 96 in 13 overs.

Pardoe made 53 frm 38 balls with one six and nine fours before he was first out.

D'Oliveira went onto make 86 from 74 deliveries with 14 boundaries but the game was in the balance when he was fifth out at 170, caught by Gatting at mid-wicket.

Another wicket quickly fell but then Barnard and Alex Hepburn saw Worcestershire to victory with an unbroken stand of 82 in 11 overs.

Barnard finished unbeaten on 35 from 32 balls with four boundaries and Hepburn 47 not out from 41 deliveries with seven fours.

The victory completed a treble after the wins over Middlesex at Radlett and Northamptonshire at Kidderminster.
