SECONDS RETURN TO CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION AT HALESOWEN

worcestershire seconds will return to championship action when they take on derbyshire in a game switched from New Road to halesowen cc and getting underway tomorrow (wednesday).

the county will just be keen to get out in the middle at seth somers park after a rain-ruined start in the three-day competition.

after having the better for lengthy periods of a drawn game with lancashire, the seconds lost two full days to the elements in both fixtures with warwickshire and northamptonshire.

with the four-day fixture versus gloucestershire at clifton college abandoned on day one because of a dangerous pitch and the trophy match with northants at finedon cc  washed out, they have played little cricket during the past month.

paceman charlie morris is included in the side tomorrow after not playing the specsavers county championship match against sussex at kidderminster when all-rounder brett d’oliveira came into the side to provide extra balance with his spinning skills.

dillon pennington will continue his comeback from a foot injury after rain meant the pace bowler could only bowl five overs in the previous seconds championship match at northampton.

he will be hoping to prove his match fitness in time to come under consideration for selection for the first team for their championship match with glamorgan beginning on sunday at cardiff.

opener josh dell, who played against sussex at kidderminster, is also included with keeper alex milton skippering the side.
