Worcestershire Seconds produced a superb performance to bowl out their Northamptonshire counterparts twice in one day to win the Championship match at Northfields CC by an innings and 71 runs with a day to spare.
Coach Kevin Sharp's side bowled out Northants for 167 in 61.4 overs and then, after being asked to follow on, they were dismissed for 142 in 46.2 overs.
Worcestershire secured a full maximum haul of 24 points from their second Championship success of the summer.
Four of their batsmen – Alexei Kervezee, Alex Hepburn, Ben Twohig and Jack Shantry – had scored half centuries in Worcestershire's total of 380-9 on the opening day.
Then the bowlers got to work with devastating effect and there were lots of encouraging performances.
Charlie Morris, on his return to action after an ankle problem, bowled 12 overs over the two innings and picked up four wickets for 44 runs with all of his victims being top order batsmen.
Skipper Hepburn completed a fine all-round match with six wickets in total for 67 from 22 overs.
Then in the second innings Pat Brown, who was 12th man for the recent first team game with Glamorgan, returned 4-34 from nine overs.
