Seconds Wind Up 2016 Programme Against Hants

Seconds Wind Up 2016 Programme Against Hants

Worcestershire Seconds will complete their 2016 programme with a four-day match against Hampshire Seconds on the Ageas Bowl nursery ground starting tomorrow.

The Seconds will be finishing the season against their Hampshire counterparts for the third successive year.

In 2014 Worcestershire triumphed by four wickets at New Road with Brett D'Oliveira, having been promoted by coach Kevin Sharp to open, scoring 102 and 86.

But last season Hampshire came out on top by 53 runs at Kidderminster despite 6-27 from Josh Tongue and 89 from Ben Twohig.

Ross Whiteley is included in the Worcestershire side after being replaced by Tom Kohler-Cadmore for the Specsavers County Championship match with Sussex at Hove.

Alex Hepburn will skipper the side as the Seconds prepare to take part in another ECB experiment this week.

The recent Second Eleven Championship clash between Worcestershire Seconds and Warwickshire Seconds at Edgbaston was played under lights with pink balls as a trial game for a potential England-West Indies day-night Test next summer.

Now the game with Hampshire will be played with pink balls in the first innings and orange in the second innings at the request of the ECB.

The game had originally been scheduled to take place on the main Ageas Bowl square but Hampshire are now using it as part of their first team preparations.
