Shaaiq Choudhry believes he will reap the benefits from a winter working with Worcestershire spin bowling coach Norman Gifford when he returns to fitness after his current side strain.
Choudhry has been put through his paces at Malvern College by county legend Gifford who skippered Worcestershire to the 1974 County Championship title, ended his career with 2,068 first class wickets and made 15 Test appearances for England.
The 29-year-old has been putting the emphasis on attaining greater consistency in terms of his action and delivery and admits he feels in "a decent place" ahead of the 2015 campaign.
But has had to put on hold his ambitions after the injury suffered when bowling in last week's friendly clash with Gloucestershire means he will be out of action for a month.
Choudhry said: "There are a number of things I wanted to work on this winter which I'm pretty satisfied with. I've worked hard on my batting and my bowling.
"I feel like I'm in a decent place right now with bat and ball so hopefully come the season I should be alright once I'm back from this injury.
"With my bowling I just wanted to work more on consistency, alignment, which I've worked really hard on with Norman Gifford.
"We've spent hours a week trying to nail it and get it right in Malvern. It's starting to feel somewhat better so hopefully over the course of a season I'll be able to see how it progresses and see how it goes.
"But I feel it's sort of looking a lot better than it was. "When I mean consistency, it's about both in terms of my action and the results of each delivery.
"In your action, I want to be able to repeat my action over and over again and that's what we've worked on. It's somewhat getting there now.
"It looks like it is more consistent with the footage we've recorded over the winter months. It looks a lot better than it did."
Choudhry, who signed a new one year contract at the end of last season, said: "It's been great to work with Norman. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge so to feed of him is unreal.
"He just keeps everything so simple but he gives you a lot of self belief.
"That's the biggest thing I get from him, he just gives you confidence to be able to go out there and perform.
"But even in the nets if you bowl a bad ball, he doesn't have anything negative to say. He keeps everything so positive.
"Myself, Dolly and even Moeen have learned a lot from him."
