Shantry And D’oliveira Added To Squad For One-Day Cup Clash With Derbyshire

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has named a 13 man squad for tomorrow's Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Derbyshire Falcons at New Road.

Rhodes has added paceman Jack Shantry and spinner Brett D'Oliveira to the players in action in yesterday's 88 run success over Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Milton Keynes.

Shantry was rested after playing in all of the opening 25 matches of the season – 12 in the LV County Championship, 12 in the NatWest T20 Blast and one in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Derbyshire have won their opening two games in the competition but were beaten by Worcestershire in last Friday's T20 Blast encounter at New Road.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell is looking for the Worcestershire batsmen to adapt better to the demands of 50 over cricket.

He believes the county need to win four of their remaining six matches if they are to progress to the quarter-finals.

Mitchell said: "Coming into this competition on the back of T20, 50 overs seems a hell of a long time.

"In the games we've played, batters have not adapted well enough and it's probably closer to the four-day game than T20.

"You've got to try and form partnerships and be prepared to bat long and someone has got to bat through and get those hundreds."

As regards the Derbyshire clash, Mitchell said: "It's an old cliche but it's take every game as it comes. That's all we can do really. "We've got six games left, we probably need to win four of them and then we'll have a chance of finishing in that top four."
