Jack Shantry hopes his performances during the past two seasons will mean other people will "start to believe I'm the player I think I'm capable of being."
Shantry enjoyed an excellent 2014 with 56 LV = County Championship wickets and a memorable 100 in the promotion clinching win over Surrey at New Road.
Now the left armer is looking to help the county establish themselves in Division One ahead of tomorrow's home clash with champions Yorkshire.
Shantry said: "I've been working all my life to be as good a cricketer as I can be. I have always backed my own ability even when others haven't.
"Maybe now, on the back of last season's performances, or even the last two seasons, more people will start to believe that I'm the player I think I'm capable of being.
"I will be looking to do the same again this year."
Shantry is confident that Worcestershire are as ready as they can be for the challenges in the top flight.
He said: "“I think all the lads are really prepared now physically and mentally.
"There was a big celebration when we got promoted last year, that died down early October time and since then we have been preparing and getting ready for the start of the season.
"Everyone is ready to go against Yorkshire, hopefully there will be a big crowd, they have been expecting Division One cricket for a while and it's good that we've delivered it to them now.
"It's what you play cricket for, to play against the best and really test yourself. I'm personally looking forward to it.
"I think we're looking forward to it as a team and we're raring to go.
"We have been in Division One a few times before while I've been at the club and we haven't really been able to put our mark on it the way we would've like to.
"But I think this year, if we can all play to how we played last year and have the same ream spirit, I think we can go a long way."
