Coach Kevin Sharp was full of praise for Worcestershire Seconds after their nine wicket win over Leicestershire Seconds in the Second Eleven Championship at Oakham.
The Seconds dominated their opening SEC fixture of the campaign throughout the three days before triumphing after tea on the final day.
Ben Twohig hit 99 to help earn Worcestershire a first innings lead of 123 and then triallist paceman Matthew King returned 4-36 in Leicestershire's second innings.
But there were contributions throughout from the side with bat and ball to set up the victory.
Sharp, who is also the County's batting coach, said: "I'm very proud of them. They've done really, really well and I take my hat off to all of them.
"It's been fantastic. We were probably a little bit less experienced overall than the opposition but the lads played very hard, mature cricket.
"It was a slowish wicket that did a bit and runs were hard to come by really.
"But the lads bowled tidily, bowled patiently, and we batted patiently and put away the bad balls. We did really well and deserved to win."
Sharp added: "The whole team contributed with bat and ball all the way through and that is what won us the game really.
"Ben Twohig was able to play with some flair but without all the contributions upfront it would have been more difficult to do that.
"We were all disappointed Ben wasn't able to get his hundred. He deserved it but unfortunately put one to mid wicket when he was on 99.
"But it won't be long before he gets a hundred.
"Matthew King bowled really, really well and he will play against Warwickshire (at Barnt Green) next week."
