Skipper Daryl Mitchell is confident he will be fit for Worcestershire Rapids home T20 Blast quarter-final with Hampshire after missing his first matches through injury for more than four years.
Mitchell had played in 68 successive LV = County Championship matches since 2011 until he suffered a hamstring injury against Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup at The Oval on Tuesday evening.
It meant he was ruled out of the home RLC game with Gloucestershire and the current LV = CC home clash with Nottinghamshire.
Mitchell's last non appearance was after suffering a side strain during the 2011 season and it is testament to his fitness and determination to play that he has been an ever present up until this week.
He said: "I'm confident I'll be available for next week. I gave it a good crack at being available for this game against Notts.
"I worked very hard in the two days before getting the injury and the start of this game.It probably came just a couple of days too soon unfortunately.
"It is a bit stiff and sore but I think that's more the work I've done on it rather than the injury itself.
"Hopefully I'll build up now for the next week or so for the big one next Friday."
Mitchell added: "I don't want to miss any game. It's disappointing not to play in this game but it's the right thing to miss this one. I wasn't ready and Gibbo (Alex Gidman) came in and did well.
"I've been pretty fortunate. This is my 13th year as a pro and I've only ever missed cricket once before and that was the side strain in 2011 for three weeks.
"Hopefully this one will be the one one-day game and the one four-day game and I'll be back out there.
"It's a huge game for everyone next Friday and no more so than for us players. These are the games you want to play in and, as captain, even more so.
"I want to lead the guys out there and hopefully get through to the final."
