Ben Smith has today announced that he has accepted the position of Batting Coach at Leicestershire CCC.
Smith arrived from Leicestershire in 2002 and has represented the county in 138 First Class appearances, amassing 8530 runs at an average of 41.00 before retiring in 2010.
On retiring from professional cricket, Smith was offered the position of Assistant Coach having spent the previous two seasons in his dual role of player coach.
Chief Executive David Leatherdale commented "We are sorry to see Ben leave as he has been an integral part of the Club over the last 10 years both on and off the field. We wish him every success in his new role with Leicestershire."
Regarding his departure Smith added, "I would like to thank Worcestershire for their support over the last ten years, firstly as a player and then guiding me into a coaching career."
