Worcestershire batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore has undergone a successful operation on his dislocated shoulder.
Kohler-Cadmore suffered the setback when playing grade cricket this winter for Penrith in Australia.
He is continuing rehab work at New Road and was unavailable for the pre-season camp in Abu Dhabi for which the players flew out from Heathrow yesterday.
Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes said Kohler-Cadmore would be assessed on the squad's return as to when he may be available for selection.
Rhodes said: "How did the operation go? Very good, the proceedure went well.
"Tom has had to have it in a sling a little bit longer than anticipated to make sure he immobilises it so that might mean a slightly longer recovery but we will see.
"He is obviously not going on the camp (to Abu Dhabi) and we will see how he has progressed when we get back as to how he is fitness wise for selection."
Paceman George Scrimshaw has also remained at New Road to continue his rehab programme with the back injury suffered on Young England Lions duty in Dubai in December.
Kohler-Cadmore won the Walter Lawrence Trophy for scoring the fastest hundred of the 2016 domestic season – against Durham in the NatWest T20 Blast at New Road.
The Worcestershire squad will undergo their first sessions of skill and fitness work in Abu Dhabi later today.
