Skipper Joe Leach’s superb season saw him finish as the leading wicket-taker in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship.
Ed Barnard and Josh Tongue also finished in the top ten and played a major role in Worcestershire returning to Division One as champions.
Leach ended with 69 wickets at an average of just 19.39 with four five-wicket hauls.
The 26-year-old finished seven ahead of Kent’s Darren Stevens and eight in front of Sussex’s Jofra Archer.
It was a magnificent effort especially with Leach having to manage ankle and slight side strain setbacks.
Barnard and Tongue – in his first season of senior cricket – ended with 47 victims apiece at similar averages of 25.25 and 25.78 respectively.
Opener Daryl Mitchell’s excellent campaign led to him finishing as second highest run-scorer in Division Two.
The 33-year-old hit seven centuries and three fifties in a total of 1266 runs at an average of 55.04.
Mitchell ended just 26 runs behind Sussex’s Luke Wells (1292) and only Surrey’s Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara (8) scored more tons in either division.
Joe Clarke (920 runs at 43.80) and Brett D’Oliveira (891 at 35.64) also featured prominently in Division Two’s leading run-scorer lists in eighth and 13th positions respectively.
Clarke hit two centuries in the same game in the home win over Kent for the first time in his blossoming career in addition to three other fifties.
D’Oliveira enjoyed his best season in terms of a run aggregate and clocked up three centuries and three fifties despite having to look after a shoulder problem at times.
