Taunton Setback For Worcs Ccc As Somerset Friendly Is Abandoned

Taunton Setback For Worcs Ccc As Somerset Friendly Is Abandoned

Worcestershire's two-day friendly fixture with Somerset at Taunton Vale has been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The County had been looking to experience some play today after yesterday's action was washed out because of a wet outfield.

But another bout of morning rain has put paid to those hopes and led to the game being called off.

It is a disappointment for the squad who were looking to get in match practice in English conditions after the pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi ahead of the County Championship opener with Kent at New Road on April 10.

Instead Worcestershire will now hope to return to action on Thursday when they take on Oxford MCCU in a three day fixture in The Parks.

The match is designated as a first class fixture.

The County are then scheduled to take on Warwickshire at Edgbaston in a two-day fixture on April 5 and 6 before turning their focus to the Kent match.
