Josh Tongue has become the first Worcestershire player for nine years to take five wickets in an innings on his County Championship debut.
The 19-year-old helped to seal an eight wicket victory over Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium by returning 5-45 in the second innings.
The last player to achieve that feat was another paceman in Imran Arif in 2008 – and it was also against the Welsh county.
The fixture this time took place at New Road and Imran returned figures of 5-50 in Glamorgan's first innings as Worcestershire completed a 10 wicket win.
He was plucked out of the Bradford League where he had been playing for Hanging Heaton.
Kashmir-born Imran played in that initial campaign for Worcestershire as an overseas player but signed a two year contract for 2009 and 2010 after obtaining a British passport.
His figures against Glamorgan proved to be the best of his first class career in which 17 matches produced 43 wickets.
Imran made his last Championship appearance for the County also against Glamorgan in April 2010.
He is now 33 and most recently – in March – has been playing in the Hong Kong Twenty20 Blitz for Hung Hom Jaguars in a side also containing James Franklin (New Zealand), Darren Sammy (West Indies) and Johan Botha (South Africa).
Daryl Mitchell is the only Worcestershire player still in action for the County from that side which defeated Glamorgan on Imran's debut and he had scores of 78 and 44 not out.
Current assistant coach-bowling coach Matt Mason, who has played a major part in Tongue's development, was also part of the team.
