Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell sits proudly at the top of the LV = County Championship batting averages at the end of the latest round of matches.
The 30-year-old scored 62 in his one innings against Surrey at the Kia Oval to take his run tally to 762 at an average of 108.85 with three 100s and two 50s from his 10 innings.
Mitchell has also faced more deliveries – 1541 – than any other batsman in the country and only five other players have topped the 1,000 balls received mark.
Opener Mitchell will tomorrow (Sunday) face Hampshire's James Vince in the Division Two clash at New Road (11am start) in the meeting of the top two run-scorers in the country.
Vince, skipper of Hampshire's NatWest T20 Blast side and Championship vice-captain, has accumulated 701 runs at an average of 77.88 from 12 knocks with two 100s and five 50s.
Moeen Ali lies joint 12th in the list of Division Two runscorers despite having only played five championship innings due to England commitments.
He has scored 371 runs in five innings at an average of 74.20 including his magnficent 162 at the Oval.
On the bowling front spin wizard Saeed Ajmal is occupying second spot in the list of Division Two wicket-takers with 29 from five games at 17.55 apiece including his career best 7-19 in the win over Essex at New Road.
Only Gloucestershire's Will Gidman, with 31 from six appearances, is ahead of Ajmal in Division Two and just Jack Brooks (Yorkshire) and Steven Finn (Middlesex) with 32 and 30 respectively have taken more in Division One.
Only three wickets behind Ajmal is paceman Jack Shantry whose fine 6-53 performance at the Oval boosted his tally to 26 at an average of 19.50 while all-rounder Gareth Andrew has taken 20 at 15.95 despite missing the last three championship matches with a back problem.
Charlie Morris's encouraging start to the season is reflected in his haul of 17 wickets at 28.41.
