Unbeaten Half Century From Rhodes As Seconds Topple Surrey

George Rhodes hit an unbeaten half century as Worcestershire Seconds gained a fine five wicket win over their Surrey counterparts at Kidderminster.

The opener hit 61 not out as Worcestershire chased down a 154 target with four sessions to spare.

His 141 ball knock contained six boundaries and he featured in a fourth wicket stand of 53 with Callum Lea.

Surrey resumed on 80-5 in their second innings and were bowled out for 210 with Angus Atkinson unbeaten on 108 not out.

Andy Carter followed up his three wickets in an over yesterday with another scalp to finish with 4-27 from 12 overs.

Spinner Ben Twohig mopped up the tail to finish with 3-51 while Charlie Morris claimed 2-51.

When Worcestershire launched their reply, skipper Ollie Westbury followed up his first innings 77 by making 21 before he was lbw to Matt Dunn.

Josh Dell and Nick Hammond fell cheaply but then Lea, who scored a first innings half century on his debut, again made an important contribution.
When he was dismissed, only 23 more runs were needed and Rhodes and keeper Tom Keast saw Worcestershire over the line.
