County Paceman Scrimshaw To Captain Academy

County Paceman Scrimshaw To Captain Academy

George Scrimshaw will captain the full Worcestershire Academy side when they take on hosts Malvern College in a one-day fixture tomorrow.

The County paceman is making good progress with his rehabilitation work from his back injury.

Scrimshaw will play purely as a batsman against Malvern College with play scheduled to get underway at 1.30pm.

He made his senior debut last summer when playing for the Rapids in the T20 Blast and was part of the ECB Pace Programme during the winter.

Worcestershire Under-17s will launch their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign when they take on Hampshire at Stourport CC on Sunday (May 20).

The County warmed up for the One-Day Cup opener by defeating Nottinghamshire by one wicket in a 50 over friendly at RGS Worcester.

Worcestershire played some eye-catching cricket in the competition last summer and narrowly missed out on a quarter-final spot.

Academy Coach Elliot Wilson has named a 12 strong squad for Sunday’s fixture.

Their other One-Day Cup fixtures are against Somerset at Clevedon (May 27), Devon at Heathcoat (June 10) and Gloucestershire at RGS Worcester (June 17).
