Worcestershire Royals's opening Friends Life t20 match of the season against the Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Over an inch of rain had fallen at Edgbaston since Thursday evening and the umpires, Nick Cook and Jeff Evans, had no choice but to abandon proceedings just after 6pm.

The Royals will be hoping for better weather at New Road on Sunday when they entertain the Gloucestershire Gladiators.  The match will begin at 2:30pm.
