On Tuesday 20th March, Daryl visited BBC Hereford and Worcester for an afternoons work experience as a ‘guest’ presenter. This involved Daryl reading the afternoon Sports Bulletins at 4.30pm and 5.30pm and chatting live on the Drive Show with Andrew Easton about his role as Captain, the squads winter training, and his hopes for WCCC this coming season.
This work experience opportunity formed part of the WCCC professional players PCA Personal Development winter programme that helps players gain work experience and developing key skills alongside their cricket commitments in order to better prepare them for when they eventually retire from the game. Tuesday afternoon saw 17 players and Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes get out and about across 10 WCCC sponsors to experience the world of work. Many thanks to Cotswold Group, allpay, Marston’s PLC, King’s School, ID Sports, OGL Computer Services LTD, Worcester News, PT Marc Scriven and Rock Lobster for their support with this initiative.
When asked how he found the experience, Daryl said “I’ve had a really great afternoon, and learnt so much!” Andrew and Dave Bradley were impressed with Daryl saying they would happily welcome him back to gain some more experience.
For those of you who missed Daryl’s performance, you may get a chance to see him in action on BBC Midlands Today at lunchtime and later today!
More placement examples to follow over the coming week.
